catalogue number pp018 has been work in progress for quite a while now. wind-s originally appeared in a slightly different version as part of the soundtrack to one of rohtheaters plays. the track features all the typical obalski elements we have grown so fond of in the past. dreamy pads and odd melodies create the sort of ambient that carries you away somewhere else (bravo!). we decided that it would be interesting to hear other artists take their turn on the material. the japanese duo mascaras (chida & 5ive) transformed wind-s in an atmospheric drum workout. fantastically incorporating the breezy synth elements of the original into their flow of percussion. press play lift off. the b-side gives space to nick höppners epic techno groove. ecstasy evolving progress.

ubers latest offering is a sublime 5 track ep from french producer shelter. sailing on a black sea is a drifting piece of ambient electronica. late night stargazing on the deck with the waves gently lapping on the shore. sad beach continues with the layered textures with a little more of a percussive feel. through the desert land is shimmering mesmerising journey through the dunes with loose congas soft guitars and a hypnotic jews harp. seaport theme continues the coastal vibrations but with a touch of bounce and uplifting choral vocal stabs and louche pads. finally water plain closes the journey with kalimbas and xylophonic melodies and the contining theme of phosphoescent seas and soothing synth sounds. a very accopmlished slice of beach bar balearica destined for sunsets around the med for years to come.

the secret after-hour über-hit of the 90s, matthias strzodas tasse kaffee, gets its first release on 7inch vinyl on berlin-based label martin hossbach. strzoda is the go-to drummer for andreas dorau and rocko schamoni. while working on songs for dorau in the 1995 strzoda wrote the lyrics to tasse kaffee while dorau, tommi eckart (of 2raumwohnung, acting as producer) and strzoda composed the music. the b-side gives us a previously unreleased living-room demo from 1994 by strzoda of the andreas dorau classic

minim records gathers a quartet of bumpin sleek sounds from around the globe for the anticipated 002 va. “stardub” finds romanian producer mano andrei layering ethereal, muted pads over some raw percussives, tight driving kick and body moving bassline, while montreal gearhead pheek’s “glad i say” mates tech house bounce and sine-wave wubs to a creaky, industrial sonic palette. uk trackslinger tijn pictures the “cosmos” bursting with angular breakbeats and 4/4 subs, as the talented ukranian producer/dj and tvir label boss komponente tweaks percussive tones, punches the kick, and adds a coating of sonic grit on the brain-bending “amigdala”.
rome native marco piovesan is a dj’s producer. his driving style, pristine sound quality and nuanced tones makes his techno of the variety that draws bodies to the dance floor, and keeps them there. 2013 was his breakout year which saw releases land on gynoid audio, m_rec ltd.. that same year piovesan launched his own enterprise, h.omevvork recordings, as a haven for richly emotive techno music imbued in ‘90s spirit. to date it’s three ep’s have been remixed by luminaries such as giorgio gigli, daub and m_rec ltd’s sadly departed chief max_m. piovesan joined the key roster soon after as part of a split ep with another (then) up-and-comer, hector oaks. his two works, “black paranoid 7” and “black paranoid 10”, were clean, steely dj fodder underscored with a dark energy that made both of them potent club weapons. now piovesan returns with four cuts of surging, remorseless marching material design to tear up strobe-lit basements and big room halls alike. for djs who take no prisoners, who enjoy calling on the old techno ghosts too.

emerging from the romanian underground scene, talented young artist dragutesku finds fapte records with a prepared artwork for this release and by coincidence the name of his 2 tracks match the already made picture, so we’ve called it coincidente. on a side is the psychedelic logo of the label matching the track halucinant, having a minimal creepy sound but with a groovy pleasing vibe in the same time, making one hallucinate when listening to it & looking at the spinning center of the vinyl. as for b side, were we can find the track pastel, we must say we barely found this pastel-painting by leonid a. who gave us the right to use it, completing the art for this release maching the colorful minimal sound of the track by dragutesku later on. these are the true facts and actions (en.trans.= fapte) we experienced and hope to transmit further along with this 180g limited vinyl.

with his -planet a ep- utrecht-based anil aras makes his debut on soulfood. while listening to a broad variety of music, anil discovered his deeper love for all kinds of electronic music, which you can clearly hear in his productions. ranging from house to techno, from funk to dub, it becomes clear that anil doesn t care about simple minded visions. packed with solid grooves and catchy lines, anil finally gives us a peek at the secret weapons he s been on holding to himself for quite a while... but it is very safe to say it has been worth the wait, with four solid club bangers for the win,-planet a- is ready to shred dance floors all summer long.

emotional especial and cocktail d amore music enter cahoot-mode once again with a second round of sfire remixes that take proceedings down a deeper, more stripped-back path courtesy of the inimitable timothy j fairplay and willie burns. two artists who need little introduction offer up two remixes each that take the unique original to new dance floor extremes. timothy steps up first with his take on -sfire 2- via differing vocal and instrumental versions. his trademark, echo laden rolling percussion and john carpenter-style key lines take the original synth-pop homage to the dark room. adding arps, a lifting, hedonistic breakdown and the scatter-stepper drums and claps found on the instrumental version and this is pure cotf territory and the better for it. mr willie burns meanwhile has long followed his own path for his take on -sfire 3-, offering one of his deepest remixes to date. thudding kick, brooding pads and dark strings force the vocals to go down, way down for examination. the distorted vocals of remix 1 are countered by remix 2 letting the track shine via a seemingly endless 4/4 beat. psychedelic, trance inducing, pulsating, this is an ever growing mind expanse.

repress 2016 ...1 split release from the black market archives with tracks by larry heard and the it (with a main role for larry heard too). 2 amazing tracks which actually 20-25 years later still sounds more futuristic as many releases nowadays. spaced out jazzy keys on the mind blowing black oceans with trademark larry heard melodies. flip side takes things to the darker chicago jack territories with the great endless flight track by the it (also known for classic tracks such as donnie and gallimaufry gallery ). this is one of their overlooked and more obscure tracks! worthy re-issue on one of uks coolest house labels. tip!
